ALBAWABA - According to Channel 12, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called a special meeting today to talk about the military's readiness for a possible third attack on Iran. Expectations about U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's expected strong attitude toward Tehran were also allegedly discussed during the conference.

According to Israeli media outlets, the purpose of the conference was to assess strategic reactions in the face of escalating tensions. According to a previous report by the news site Axios, which cited anonymous sources, Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer thought that after meeting with Trump on November 10, the incoming president could either order a U.S. strike directly or support an Israeli airstrike on Iran's nuclear facilities.

As top Israeli leaders step up their demands for action against Iran, a fresh attack is being discussed. Yedioth Ahronoth said on December 22 that Mossad director David Barnea called for such an operation due to Houthi-led strikes on Israel, saying, "We must strike the head… Iran."

The "State Camp" party's opposition leader, Benny Gantz, also demanded "all necessary measures" to defend Israel from the Iranian menace.

In response to Iranian missile and drone assaults on April 13 and early October, Israel carried out two airstrikes on Iranian sites on October 26 and April 19 of last year. These were the first direct Iranian ballistic weapons strikes on Israeli soil.
