ALBAWABA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly asked US President Joe Biden for help resisting an ICC detention order against Israeli leaders.
The ICC's apparent preparations to issue warrants targeting Netanyahu, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, and Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi have raised concerns in Israel.
In an article on "Walla," sources said the Israeli government has been discussing an international arrest warrant for Netanyahu. Israeli media reports say Netanyahu is worried about an ICC arrest warrant.
Against this backdrop, Israel is reportedly strengthening its diplomatic attempts to counter ICC action against Netanyahu and other officials.
Netanyahu and President Biden discussed potential ICC arrest warrants for Israeli officials in a recent phone call, emphasising the severity of the situation.
Netanyahu told President Biden about the ICC's impending moves, according to unidentified sources. Netanyahu also requested Biden's help in blocking ICC arrest warrants.
Netanyahu, Gallant, and Halevi's ICC arrest warrants are being considered by Israel's National Security Council, according to Channel 13. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also ordered its diplomatic missions worldwide to prepare for ICC actions against Israeli officials.
