The aviation authorities in Dubai has completed re-planning of air routes and usage of air space in the northern sector of the country's flight information region, reported the Emirati official news agency (WAM).

New routes have also been designed for departure from Dubai International Airport and other routes for landing, said the agency.

Mohammed Ghanim Al Ghaith, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) was quoted as saying that the new system was put through a three- month test through using simulators installed at the air traffic control section. The new system will start operations on October 4th.

The second phase of the (airport) expansion program, costing $1.4 billion, will involve many big projects which will all be tendered online in the coming months," Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Dubai Civil Aviation (DCA's) president said early July.

DCA wishes to promote the dedicated aviation portal among other regional airports, and is not averse to sharing equity with regional partners, he added – Albawaba.com
