Cavotec Middle East, the UAE-based subsidiary of global engineering group Cavotec MSL, has unveiled a new Gate Concept that presents significant improvements in energy efficiency and fuel cost savings as well as reductions in carbon footprint and accident risk within airport operations across the region. Launched in anticipation of the Airport Show which will run from April 25th to the 27th in Dubai, Cavotec’s new gate concept addresses cost reduction via a multipronged approach which gives airlines and airport authorities the opportunity to save millions of dollars every year.
Commenting on the launch of the firm’s new offering, Mr. Juergen Strommer, Cavotec Middle East Managing Director, said, “We are proud to unveil Cavotec’s latest innovation in the field of airport support equipment. The new solution presents a number of benefits that are very well in tune with the current demands of the growing airport operation business in the Middle East – tangible savings in operational and investment costs as well as ecological responsibility in terms of reduced carbon emissions through streamlined processes.”
Cavotec’s Gate concept promises operational efficiency by allowing the provision of up to six aircraft ground services (400Hz – PCAir – Blue Water – Potable Water – Sewage – Air Start) through the firm’s proprietary underground Pop Up pits. The innovative process effectively eliminates the need for ground support equipment (GSE) mobile vehicles, translating to a lower risk of accidents, lower maintenance and repair costs of the support vehicles, and significantly reduced capital investment requirements for GSE vehicles. Less manpower is also required to service multiple aircraft, denoting even more savings in labour costs.
In addition, the Gate concept decreases usage of auxiliary power units (APU) as the system can provide pre-conditioned cabin air with Cavotec’s Compressed Air PCAir solution as soon as the aircraft is positioned. Slashing just minutes from APU usage spells savings of millions of dollars every year.
Ultimately, the Cavotec Gate concept features flexibility of application, allowing implementation in a green field new airport or as a component of the renovation of an existing airport. As airports expand, the Cavotec Gate concept will become a highly suitable solution in order for them to make their operations more efficient and less capital demanding, and will ensure that aircrafts are serviced on time in order to prevent costly flights delays.
“Cavotec is committed to cultivate the constant development of the regional aviation industry. Bahrain’s recently announced $4.7 billion airport expansion is evident of booming airborne activity in this part of the world, and as air traffic continuously increases and spurs further expansion of airports across the region, our new Gate concept acts as a vital catalyst for the realization a highly developed airport industry in the Middle East,” Yann Duclot, Cavotec Middle East’s Aviation Division Manager concluded.
