Iran's new defence minister, who is wanted by Argentina in connection with the bombing of a Jewish centre in the 1990s, insisted on Sunday that his appointment to the post was a blow to Israeli propaganda. Vahidi said in a statement carried by Iranian news agencies on Sunday that his approval for the post was a sign that the people want a stronger defence establishment.

"It is also a stamp which nullifies the wave of propoganda and psychological war started by the Zionists," he said, according to AFP. Vahidi also called for Iran independence in defense industry and improving defensive capabilities among arm forces and developing defensive diplomacy and human resources for suitable management.
