The International Chamber of Commerce announced that Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry will host the 8th World Chambers Congress in 2013. This came during the press conference held yesterday in the afternoon at QCCI headquarters by His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassim Bin Mohammed Al-Thani, the chamber’s chairman. On this occasion, the Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry expressed his congratulations to the State of Qatar, The Emir, the government and the people, on the valuable trust consolidated by winning the rights to host this congress, considered as an important global economic and commercial event bringing together the elite business men and commerce leaders in the world to discuss issues facing the international business community. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassim Bin Mohammed Al-Thani added that winning the rights to host the 8th World Chambers Congress was a confirmation on the political and economical stability enjoyed by the State of Qatar on both regional and international levels. In fact, Qatar witnesses a rapid and growing development in the different economic, social, cultural and sportive sectors. The economic growth of Qatar is expected to almost double this year to 16%, making it the fastest growing economy in the Middle East. Doha has a large experience in organizing and hosting large-scale events and has developed modern facilities, accommodations, infrastructure, and leisure activities. QCCI chairman said: “I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all those who contributed in this success and on the top of them our wise leadership represented by His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir, H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, The Heir Apparent, His Excellency Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar Tourism Authority, Qatar Airways, Qatar 2022 Bid Committee in addition to a very long list of organizations that have provided their full support to Doha 2013 Bid. Moreover, my warmest thank you goes to the Doha 2013 Bid Committee members without whom all this success would have not been possible. Sheikh Khalifa also added: “We are now looking forward to FIFA's announcement on December 2nd, and on behalf of all our members I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our strong support for Qatar 2022 Bid. As outlined by the Grant Thornton research recently published, a FIFA World Cup in Qatar will result in a potential $14 billion growth in Middle East Football by 2022, creating huge business opportunities for our members and further developing their business relationships within the Middle East and the rest of the world." On September 15th 2010, the Doha 2013 Bid Committee headed to Paris, to present a summary of the bid book highlighting its main points. The presentation mainly covered the reasons why Doha is the right place to host the event and few other points required by the WCF to prove the readiness of the state to host such an event, in terms of infrastructure, financing, transportation, cultural and social events. The presentation was a great success. In fact, the World Chambers Congress, organized by the World Chambers Federation, is a world’s signature gathering of international business people and a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, best practices and innovations, promote networking efforts between the chambers of commerce and draw on their experiences for the benefit of future business and commerce. He noted that this congress represented a valuable opportunity for the trade business from different parts of the world to meet at one venue in order to exchange ideas, best practices and innovations, promote networking efforts between the chambers of commerce and draw on their experiences in order to strengthen the cooperation among them and the investment between various countries, regions and global agglomerations. Qatar's bid to host the World Chambers Congress was another milestone in Qatar's march of progress embedded in Qatar National Vision 2030 through the commitment in a path of development and growth as fostered by H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and H.H. Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Misned, to promote Qatar's leading position in the region and all over the world. At the same time, this stresses on the event that Qatar is the capital of major global conferences. Through this congress, we can offer the world a true image of our Arab, and more specifically gulf, community.
