As part of the tremendous efforts to activate the resolutions passed during the Social and Medical Home Health Care Conference held in November of 2008; the National Home Health Care Foundation – Western Province (NHHCF) in collaboration with the National Guard Health Affairs and the Postgraduate Training Center in Riyadh will be organizing a home health care training workshop titled “Basic Principles of Home Health Care’. Over 150 home health care workers, doctors, nurses and social workers are expected to participate in the workshop which will be held at the Meridien Hotel in Jeddah from the 27th till the 28th of January 2010.

This initiative is a follow up from the previous year’s conference resolutions – article number 9 concerning raising the standards and services of home health care; which was held under the auspices of HRH Princess Adelah bint Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of the NHHCF Western Province under the title of "Health and Humanitarian Partnership …The New Strategy" on November 2008; where they called for the provision of training for the local workforce in the field of home health care in Saudi Arabia.

A number of key topics will be presented during the two day session featuring medical and social workshop with approximately 150 attendees taking part.  The session topics will include patient's care and means of communications, basics in home health care (basis of physiotherapy, wound treatments and respiratory); including specialized training for technicians, social workers and nurses.

“The workshops being hosted are part of the commitment of the National Home Health Care Foundations to strengthen the role of this important sector in the medical and social fields,” stated HRH Princess Adelah bint Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, President of the National Home Health Care Foundation Western Province.

“By hosting and organizing such workshops we aim to support and raise the efficiency of workers in home health care sector; providing them with information and skills that they need to master their work and further develop their skills and capabilities in order to ease the pain and suffering of those chronically ill patients and those in need of home health care services.  Our ultimate goal is ease of their lives with comfort and dignity,” continued Princess Adelah.

The workshops are part of the NHHCF Western Province objectives in terms of developing health and humanitarian partnership programs.  In December 2009 Boeing presented to the Foundation a grant of SR 500,000 to support its training programs and to increase and develop healthcare awareness and skills home healthcare practitioners in Saudi Arabia.

The workshops will be held for two full days between 8 am-4pm and will include 18 educational hours approved by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialists.
