A Nigerian found guilty of pick pocketing in Saudi Arabia had his right hand amputated on Thursday in the western city of Mecca, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA), quoting a statement by the interior ministry.
Adam Mohammad Ibrahim was sentenced to the amputation by an Islamic court for pick pocketing within the walls of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, said the statement.
Saudi Arabia applies a strict code of Islamic sharia law, which prescribes amputating the right hands of thieves. If the amputee steals again, the Saudi government removes his or her left hand – Albawaba.com
