nissan altima sets another 24 hrs endurance record

The Nissan Altima has once again broken another record during this year’s 24 hours endurance drive which took place at the Dubai Autodrome. Organized by the Middle East region’s most popular car portal AutoMiddleEast.com, the event marked another success record that has been set by an un-modified production Nissan Altima sedan under FIA regulations. The Federation Internationale De L’Automobile (FIA) - the governing body for motor sports worldwide - is represented by the Emirates Automobile and Touring Club (EATC) and the event was monitored by EATC officials under the direction of its President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

A V6 3.5-litre and 2.5-litre 2008 model Nissan Altima with advanced Nissan Xtronic CVT were driven for 24-hours without engine stops highlighting the endurance capabilities of showroom-spec Nissan Altima cars. Eleven new records have been set this year for both models one hour, two hours, six hours, 12 hours and 24 hours as well as for 100km, 200km, 500km, 1000km, 1500km and the final distance of 2000km.

“Nissan owners are entitled to a rewarding motoring experience no matter which Nissan vehicle they select or where they drive it. As a global automaker, Nissan continually strives to deliver the highest standard of quality and reliability that customers everywhere can clearly perceive and appreciate," commented Kevin Martin, Vice President, Total Customer Satisfaction, Nissan North America.

“We are indeed extremely proud of this year’s Altima Endurance records. This is yet further proof to Altima’s outstanding durability and endurance," commented Saleh Jafar, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications Department at Nissan Middle East. “The vehicles handled the high temperature along the tough conditions of the track so well to succeed in breaking their own record once again”, continued Jafar.

Pankaj Dev, CEO & Managing Editor, AutoMiddleEast.com praised the enduring performance of the Nissan Altima cars which ran like clockwork throughout the grueling 24-hours which saw temperatures of over 44 degrees scorching the track. “The enhancements made to the new Nissan Altima triggered us to challenge the endurance record of the previous Altima, using the same vehicle to prove those enhancements. This year was even tougher than last year where we had to increase the speed of the Nissan Altima on track and reduce the fuel consumption of the vehicles. Due to the enhancements on the new model of the Nissan Altima like the Xtronic CVT, we were able to achieve higher speeds than last year and therefore break 2006 records. Both the 2.5 and 3.5 engine Altima's have set higher records this year”.

Nissan’s advanced Digital Technology in vehicle design, development, and manufacturing has been applied to the next generation Altima achieving the highest level of quality.  During development, extensive testing of the Altima was conducted in the GCC region. Meticulous effort has been applied to ensure that Altima is perfectly suited to the local environment.  To validate Atima’s quality, an intensive PSQC (Pre Start of sales Quality Clinic) was conducted on public roads, utilizing various actual customer drive patterns, accumulating over 50,000 km in this region.

The next generation Altima has further enhanced its “refined quality” created by Revolutionary Technology and Detailed Craftsmanship together with application of the entirely redesigned platform, “D-platform”, and the next generation Xtronic CVT transmission. The 2008 Nissan Altima will be available to the Middle East drivers in two well equipped models: 2.5S and 3.5SE.
