North Korea on Wednesday accused Israel of causing the Middle East crisis, and expressed support for the Palestinian cause.
North Korea "strongly denounces Israel's brutal suppression of Palestinians and extends full support and solidarity to the Palestinian people in the struggle to defend their legitimate national rights," said a foreign ministry spokesman quoted by the official Korean Central News Agency.
The spokesman said Israel had "indiscriminately" attacked Palestinian targets "with modern war equipment" to cause the crisis, which has been partly eased by a US-brokered truce.
The spokesman said the international community was "expressing astonishment and wrath at Israel's outrage."
