The number of confirmed foot-and-mouth outbreaks in Britain has risen to 1,004, a ministry of agriculture spokesman said Wednesday.
The first foot-and-mouth outbreak appeared seven weeks ago, on February 19, on a farm in Essex, southeast England.
Britain gave on Wednesday the first positive sign in its battle against foot-and-mouth disease when it ruled out "at this stage" the vaccination of livestock, preferring to stick by its policy of mass slaughter – LONDON (AFP)
