Under the Patronage of King Abdullah II, the supervision of Prince Feisal Bin Al Hussein and the support of the Jordanian Armed Forces, the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX) has announced that several national pavilions have significantly increased exhibition space requirements for SOFEX 2010, which will take place from May 10th – 13th at the King Abdullah I Airbase in Marka. To accommodate the increased demand for exhibition space, the SOFEX site is being expanded by 2,500 sqm.
SOFEX 2010 confirmed the significant participation of the national pavilions belonging to China, France, Italy, Jordan, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Sweden and the USA, who have all requested exhibition space for their national defence manufacturers for a presence at SOFEX 2010, while the new national pavilions that will be featured for the first time at SOFEX 2010 include Azerbaijan, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. This demand is testimony to the importance attributed to the SOFEX series, due to its exclusive focus on Special Operations Forces and homeland security and its location as a gateway to the Middle East.
Mr. Amer Tabbah, Managing Director of SOFEX stated, "Upon completion of SOFEX 2008, we received requests from various countries to participate in SOFEX 2010, and with the new nations that will be featured for the first time as national pavilions, we have expanded the exhibition site by an additional 2,500 sqm to accommodate their exhibition space requirements, so 2010 will again enjoy a healthy growth from the participating companies to nearly 350 exhibitors."
SOFEX 2010 is a four-day event that will commence with a one day conference program, encompassing a series of comprehensive and topical seminars delivered by key military officials and defense manufacturers from around the world, who will be tackling a wide range of issues pertinent to current homeland security issues.
The conference will be followed by a comprehensive exhibition of the most up-to-date special operations equipment and technology, designed to provide Jordanian, regional and international companies with the opportunity to participate and display their know-how and state-of-the-art technologies, tactics and equipment to their key target audiences. Military delegations, senior government officials and decision makers representing over 50 countries are expected to attend the 2010 exhibition, and will have the opportunity to update themselves with the latest defense and homeland security technologies.
