President Barack Obama has said the refugee crisis had worsened and requires cooperation from European countries and the US.
He said ultimately the source of the crisis - the war in Syria - had to be dealt with.
This weekend US Secretary of State John Kerry will visit London for talks on the Syria crisis.
He will meet Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond and discuss the ongoing crisis in Syria and refugee situation.
