The Qatari government has taken the full responsibility to make the fourth WTO conference a success in terms of its organization and logistics, said a top economy official on Saturday.

In a meeting of experts preparing for the conference from November 9 to 13, Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal Al Thani, the assistant undersecretary of finance, economy and trade, said that preparations for the meeting are in full swing, said the Gulf Times newspaper.

Sheikh Hamad said the experts would discuss essential issues because it convenes at a time when developing countries are in dire need for coordinating ideas and unifying their ranks in order to defend their vital interests in world trade issues.

He added the meeting’s agenda would include working papers on carrying out agreement already signed particularly on aspects of intellectual property, treatment and preference of developing countries, subsidies and dumping of goods, progress achieved in agriculture and services in addition to issues related to energy and WTO.

The other issues relate to new negotiations on industrial terminologies, trade and competition, trade and investment, transfer of technology, financial resources and debts.

Sheikh Hamad said Qatar was committed to provide for 4,400 rooms but demand is more than that adding within a week or ten days completion of all preparations for the WTO meeting would be announced – Albawaba.com
