Oman's gross domestic product (GDP) totaled 5,51 billion riyals ($14b) at current prices during the first nine months of last year, comprising a 29 percent increase, reported the Gulf News.
According to statistics released by the ministry of national economy the oil sector activities, including extraction of oil and natural gas and other pertinent services, totaled 2,766.6 million riyals, up by 72.6 percent from 1,602.4 million riyals in 1999.
Non-oil activities registered an increase of 5.1 percent, reaching 2,871.7 million riyals.
“This was due to a 9.7 percent surge in industrial activity which amounted to 399.9 million riyals, and a 3.3 percent increase in agriculture and fisheries sector to 117.2 million riyals from 113.5 million,” said an official – Albawaba.com
