Oman planned to spend 1.3 billion rials ($3.4 billion) in its new development plan to 2005 and push ahead with privatization and job creation for nationals, according to Reuters report as published in Bahrain Tribune Wednesday.

Economy Minister Ahmed Abdulnabi Mekki was quoted in a statement as saying that spending in the sixth five-year 2001-2005 plan would go up by 20 percent from the 1.076 billion rials in the previous plan.

“The new plan’s allocations are directed at development programs such as higher education, enhancing economic diversification and guaranteeing the stability of the actual per capita income,” Mekki said -- Albawaba.com
