An online crowdfunding campaign to support IDF Sgt. Elor Azaria, who is on trial in the fatal shooting case of a subdued Palestinian man, reached $103,000 by Monday morning, some 12 hours after it launched.
Azaria is being tried for manslaughter after he shot and killed a Palestinian man as he lay wounded on the ground. The shooting was filmed and later released by rights group B'Tselem
Azria's family said they started the fundraising campaign due to the difficulties in financing legal fees for their son.
The family began the campaign to raise fund after Azaria's lawyers pressed the family to pay legal fees, which are expected to be nearly $130,000.
On Monday morning, another witness in the March shooting of Abdel Fatal al-Sharif will come to the stand to testify at the Jaffa Military Court.
