Colonel Rashid Ahmad Al Mualla, Deputy General Manager of Umm Al Quwain Police Department, opened the Shamil Centre for vehicle testing and registration service in Umm Al Quwain . The event was attended by Dr. Rahma bin Mohamed Al Shamsi, Retail Sales Manager at Emirates General Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Ahmed Ismail Abdullah, Manager Vehicle Testing at Emarat and a number of officials from Emarat and the Ministry of Interior, in addition to representatives from governmental and local departments.

Umm Al Quwain's Shamil Centre is the third, after the opening of similar facilities in Ajman and Ras Al Khaima. A fourth centre will be opened soon in Fujeirah, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior.

Mr. Hussein Kazim, Manager Corporate Communications at Emarat, said that these centers aim to incorporate the concept of comprehensive service under one roof, in addition to the provision of a comfortable service environment, high quality and valuable expertise, all elements that are offered to customers while testing and registering their vehicles.

Mr. Kazim also added that the technical testing and registration of vehicles, which is provided by Emarat at select service stations, is a service which is considered the best in the Middle East. He further said that these modern and unique services help the traffic departments, while providing a high quality service in accordance with the latest systems, all within comfortable atmospheres. The great success that these services achieved in some stations in Dubai has encouraged Emarat to expand its activities to cover the Northern Emirates.

Services that are provided at Shamil Centers in general aim to improve the quality and performance of technical vehicle testing. This was evident in Dubai centers, and will be implemented in all of the other centers in the Northern Emirates, with the same criteria and standards, especially those relating to safety and security. Equipment and devices have been programmed to deal with gauges and measurement units in a simple method so that these procedures can be unified at all Shamil Centers.

From other side Mr. Ahmed Ismail said that the testing techniques at Umm Al Quwain's Shamil Centre rely on communication between the Corporation's data base and the local data base at the traffic department in Umm Al Quwain, in addition to the data base at the Ministry of Interior. These connections are carried out by the latest technologies at Etisalat, which enables a speedy and accurate access to the data of the vehicles being tested. Testing and information connection between Emarat, RTA in Dubai, the Ministry of Interior and the local traffic departments in the Northern Emirates is the first of its kind in the UAE.

Entrance and exit locations are provided at the center, in addition to queuing area for waiting vehicles. Special bays were built for technical testing, another building was allocated for customers, and it includes the administration and offices for insurance companies. Also there are offices for police staff and traffic employees in order to facilitate the procedures. Additionally, there is an office at the center for fines payment.

The centre is equipped with new machines and effective programs that can contribute in increasing the quality of the services provided, as they decrease manual reliance on data input and facilitate the connection with the data base at the Ministry of Interior. All these factors help in accessing the required information easily and simplify the procedures.
