The main opposition party in Tanzania's semi-autonomous twin islands of Zanzibar called Monday for fresh elections there after voting was cancelled in 16 of the state's 50 constituencies.
"We insist again that to do right and to be seen to do right the ZEC (Zanzibar Electoral Commission) should cancel the entire election exercise in Zanzibar.
"Any other decision other than that is unacceptable to CUF (Civic United Front)," the party said in a statement -- ZANZIBAR (AFP)
