The Emirates Aviation College (Aerospace & Academic Studies) celebrated its 15th graduation ceremony yesterday, granting awards to over 130 students.
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairman & Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group, and Chancellor of Emirates Aviation College (Aerospace & Academic Studies) conferred the awards at a ceremony at the college.
Family members and friends applauded as students received National Diplomas and Higher National Diplomas in various disciplines such as Aerospace Engineering, Electronics & Computer Engineering, Business Management and Travel & Tourism Management.
In his address, College Vice-Chancellor Mohammed Al Budoor said: “On behalf of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed, I congratulate the graduates for the successful completion of their studies at the college.
“They are now ready to go on to higher study or begin a career in the exciting and fast-growing aviation industry, both in the UAE and beyond. I wish them all every success in their future endeavours."
Aerospace Engineering graduates completed on-the-job training at the Emirates Engineering Centre, while Management students had the chance to experience the business world, working for short periods in a number of commercial and tourism firms.
They now have the opportunity to join the one year, top-up degree programme which the college is offering, in collaboration with the UK’s Coventry University.
The College offers four different top-up degree programmes - in Aerospace Technology, Electronics Engineering, Business Systems and Business Systems (Tourism).
Dr Ahmad Al Ali, Deputy Vice Chancellor commented: “We are expecting quite a number of Higher National Diploma graduates to enrol in these degree programmes due to their uniqueness in the region and the applied nature of them.”
The Emirates Aviation College (Aerospace & Academic Studies) is licensed by the Ministry of Education and offers professional vocational programmes in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics & Computer Engineering, Business Management and Travel &Tourism Management, in addition to short courses in Management and the English language.
The college recognises the importance of providing a sound vocational education structure based on the needs of industry in the UAE, the region and beyond. Students taking this route following completion of high school or secondary education can follow a unique path of ‘learning by doing’, acquiring both knowledge and skills that allow them to form a greater understanding of the needs and practices of the work-place environment. This might be in preparation for a career as an aircraft engineer, an IT specialist a hotel manager or a business entrepreneur.
