ALBAWABA - Israel resumed attacks on the Gaza Strip after announcing the end of the ceasefire agreement, approved in January, the Israeli military said early Tuesday morning.

The Gaza Ministry of Health revealed that the death toll from the ongoing offensive on the strip has jumped to at least 356, including children, dozens of others were also injured according to the ministry spokesperson.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the resumption of attacks on Gaza amid a lack of progress in talks to extend the ceasefire that lasted for about two months only. Officials confirmed Tuesday that the operation was open-ended and was expected to expand.

"Israel will, from now on, act against Hamas with increasing military strength," Netanyahu's office revealed.

In a post on X, the Israeli army wrote: "In accordance with the political echelon, the IDF and ISA are currently conducting extensive strikes on terror targets belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip."

Gazan journalist Hossam Shabat posted on X: "It’s 3 AM local time in Gaza, and there are more than 100 bombings across the strip. We have all woken up because it feels like a strong earthquake. The Israeli government has decided to resume this genocide and break the ceasefire."

According to The Wall Street Journal, US President Donald Trump gave the green light to Israel to carry out the latest attacks on the Strip after Hamas refused to accept US-backed proposals to extend the truce.
