Israeli, Palestinian and US security officials are due to meet Friday to coordinate the withdrawal from Palestinian controlled areas Israel reoccupied in the wake of the assassination of Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze'evi, said reports.

Israel is to be represented at the meeting by the head of the Shin Bet security service, Avi Dichter, the head of the Israeli army plans and policy directorate, Major General Giora Eiland, and the heads of the Central and Southern Commands.

The cabinet, meeting late Thursday night, said it would only begin implementing the gradual withdrawal if its security demands were met.

"Israel does not intend to remain in area A [under Palestinian control] for an extended period," a statement from Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's office said.

"The pullout of forces from area A will be made possible over time, in conjunction with the fulfillment of the requirements demanded from the Palestinian Authority," the statement said – Albawaba.com
