Pakistan's Foreign Minister Abdul-Sattar will represent the country at a special meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to be held in Morocco next week, officials said Thursday.

Al-Quds committee meeting has been convened at the request of Palestinian President Yassar Arafat following the failure of Camp David talks between himself and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak last month.

The meeting, in the Moroccan town of Agadir, is scheduled for Monday.

Arafat, travelling around the world to drum up support for his planned announcement of an independent Palestinian state, with Al-Quds as its capital, held talks with Pakistani military ruler General Pervez Musharraf during a brief visit to Islamabad on August 13th.

General Musharraf reaffirmed Pakistan's "whole-hearted support to the Palestinian cause and the inalienable right to statehood with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital," the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan said.

It quoted Musharraf as expressing "disappointment over the failure of Camp David talks due to Israel's obduracy."

He hoped the international community would prevail on Israel to abide by the United Nations resolutions so that a "comprehensive, just and fair settlement of Middle East crisis was achieved," the news agency said -- ISLAMABAD (AFP)
