Activists protesting the Israeli settlement plans for the E1 land in the West Bank have been forcibly evacuated by Israeli police, AP reported on Sunday.
Demonstrators set up tents on Friday to protest the move by Israel to develop more Jewish settlements on the corridor of land, effectively stopping the West Bank from becoming a contiguous state.
Police spokesman, Micky Rosenfield, told the news agency that, although no arrests were made, around 100 protestors were evicted from the site early on Sunday morning.
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had isolated the area on Saturday night by shutting down access roads and declaring the site a "closed military zone".
Previous attempts by the Israeli military administration to expel the activists were quelled late on Friday when demonstrators successfully petitioned to the Israeli supreme court for the orders to be frozen
However, the court injunction was apparently lifted on Sunday although Israeli police sources could not tell AP which court had allowed the order to be rescinded.
Activists were attempting to create a Palestinian village - known as "Bab al Shams" - on the land, using a tactic more usually associated with Jewish settlers, of occupying sites in order to claim them as their own.
