The Palestinian Tourism and Antiquities Ministry has announced its readiness to promote and present the first ever international film festival on Palestinian soil on November 2.
The Ministry’s deputy, Abdullah Hijazi, told DPA news agency that the ministry, along with the Palestinian Culture Ministry, are now preparing for the festival. Hijazi also said that the preparatory committee for the festival will be headed by Palestinian President Yasser Arafat’s brother, Fathy Arafat.
Hijazi also said that official invitations have already been sent to a number of Arab and allied countries, emphasizing that the festival will show Palestinian productions ranging from the beginning of the 30’s, to the current century.
Furthermore, Hijazi said that various famous international and Arab directors have been invited to participate in the festival, adding that the judicial committee will present the Badr Lama Award for best film. Director Badr Lama, is the force behind launching the festival - Albawaba.com.
