According to BNA, Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei' on Thursday expressed his "deep concern" about the Israeli practices especially the continuity of building the Apartheid Wall.
During his meeting with US Consul General in Jerusalem David Pearce, Qurei' called for ending the Israeli policy of expanding colonies and isolating Jerusalem of its Palestinian integrity. Qurei' asserted on the necessity of the "immediate and serious" US intervention to end such policies, pointing out to the US President George Bush's rejection of expanding the settlements as they undermine the final status negotiations. The US Consul told Qurei' that the Assistant Secretary of State David Welch, the Quartet Committee representative James Wolfensohn and the US coordinator of the US withdrawal, General William Ward, are visiting the region next week.
