Global Village, the region’s entertainment, shopping, and cultural attraction located in Dubailand, provides the opportunity for various cultures to present their customs traditions through thousands of cultural shows during its ongoing 14th edition. One of these shows that grace the stage and street entertainment in Global Village is the Palestinian traditional dance show called Dabkeh.
The Paletinian “Dabkeh” Dance Show is basically performed by the Palestinian dancers and bagpipe players who are members of the group Al Dalouna Traditional Band for Palestinian Dancing. It is composed of six dancers and two bagpipe players who move in amazing solidarity and vigor while chanting words in Arabic language. The dance actually implies love stories, weddings and, even, times of grievances and wars.
According to Bahauldin Hafez Alsaolek, the group's manager and founder, “Global Village gave us the chance to showcase the Palestinian culture to its millions of visitors, and for that we are deeply grateful. We believe that this traditional dance show allows us to promote our traditions and educate people about Palestine.” He furthers, “Our group is composed of engineers, doctor, students, real estate agents and other professionals who dance out of passion and love for Palestine, our beloved country.”
Indeed, the authentic cultural display of Palestinian “Dakeh” brings about the splendid rhythm and movements that fascinate and educate the huge crowd in Global Village. The twenty-minute show runs three times a week, from Sunday to Tuesday, and three times per night. The Palestinian “Dabkeh” dance show is performed right in front of the Palestine Pavilion.
