ALBAWABA - Hamas and two factions of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) conducted an important conference as Israeli bombardment on Gaza continued, stressing that the Palestinian people and their national forces alone would make any decisions about the post-war destiny of the Gaza Strip.
A statement issued by Hamas via Telegram said that participants at the conference included members of the "Palestinian Liberation Front" and the "Arab Liberation Front." The meeting was held in the midst of what the organizations called Israel's "genocidal war" against the Palestinian people and their cause.
The groups reaffirmed in a united declaration that the Palestinian people would choose their own destiny after the conflict and that they have the unalienable right to self-determination. They emphasized that Palestinians and their national leadership have all decision-making authority.
In order to restore the PLO's legitimacy and bring the Palestinian people together under its leadership, the factions demanded that measures be made to fortify and energize the organization's structures. They called on the PLO to take up its rightful place at the forefront of the Palestinian people's fight for freedom, autonomy, and statehood.
In addition, the statement demanded that the Beijing accord on national reconciliation and other earlier agreements be put into effect as soon as possible. The groups made it plain that unless there was a complete withdrawal from Gaza, the blockade was lifted, and a thorough prisoner exchange arrangement was reached, there would be no peace accord with Israel.
The organizations restated that the Palestinian people have an indisputable and rightful right to resist occupation. To counter Israeli aggression and oppose the occupation, they demanded the complete mobilization of all Palestinian forces in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and other occupied regions.
