Palestinian, Israeli Security Officials Meet; Fatah Pamphlet Supports Arafat Plea

The Central Region Commander of the Israeli army Major General Yitzhak Eitan is to meet Wednesday night with the heads of the Palestinian security apparatus in the West Bank, Israel Radio reported.  


Israel’s Defense Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer noted that the upcoming meeting was to be taken place in order to review "ways to aid the Palestinian Authority in the war against terror." West Bank security chief Jibril Rajoub confirmed these reports.  


Fatah Pamphlet 

Meanwhile, Fatah, the largest Palestinian movement headed by Yasser Arafat, circulated a pamphlet in the West Bank and Gaza Strip on Wednesday calling for a temporary halt of violence against Israel and calling on its members to obey the plea of the Palestinian leader for a cease-fire, Israel Radio reported.  


Palestinian Injured 

On Wednesday afternoon, a Palestinian man was seriously injured in his legs after stepping on Israeli land mine. According to , a wounded Palestinian showed up at an Israeli roadblock asking for medical treatment. The man, suffering severe leg wounds, made his way to the roadblock in the occupied Jordan Valley. According to the report, the Palestinian told Israeli soldiers he stepped on a land mine in the area, Army Radio reported. A Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance rushed the wounded Palestinian to an area hospital for medical aid. (
