An Israeli air strike aimed at armed Palestinians in the Gaza Strip killed one and wounded three others on Tuesday, hospital officials and the Israeli army said. The attack on the group near the town of Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza Strip was aimed at a mortar launching squad close to the border fence with Israel, Gaza medics said, according to Reuters.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said the rocket-launching crew identified hitting a number of armed gunmen in an air strike. Gaza hospital officials said four gunmen arrived for treatment in the early hours of Tuesday and one died of his injuries.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak has instructed the army to impose a full closure on the West Bank ahead of Israel's "Remembrance Day." The closure will continue throughout the Independence Day celebrations on Wednesday and will be lifted Thursday night barring any unforeseen security developments.

According to ynet, the Israeli intelligence has received a number of specific warnings and dozens of general ones regarding possible attempts by Palestinian organizations to carry out suicide bombings and kidnappings.

Israel's military intelligence chief, Major-General Amos Yadlin has recently warned cabinet that Palestinian groups are looking to carry out "quality" attacks on Independence Day, which may include an attempt at kidnapping a soldier.
