A Palestinian was killed and another was reported in critical condition as Israeli forces shelled Rafah town in the Gaza Strip following the bomb blast in Hadera town in northern Israel, reported Al Jazira Channel.

Isreali forces were also shelling the West Bank city of Ramallah shortly after the bomb blast.

Meanwhile, an explosion was reported at the Rafah checkpoint on the Palestinian-Egyptian border, said sources. No further details were available.

Palestinian security sources told Albawaba.com that Israeli troops were trying to storm the village of Deir Ammar, to the west of Ramallah, and there was an exchange of fire.

Israeli surveillance planes were circling over Gaza, an indication of an imminent raid, they said.

Earlier in the day, an Israeli tank opened fire on two Palestinian cars in the Gaza Strip that killed at least four and injured eight others.
