The leader of a radical Palestinian group, which hijacked a cruise ship in 1985, has vowed in an interview published Tuesday to organize suicide attacks against Israeli targets.

"Palestine Liberation Front (PLF) will soon carry out suicide operations against the Zionist entity," Mohammad Abbas, known by his nom-de-guerre Abul Abbas, told the weekly Al-Rafidain.

"The decision has been taken to carry out traditional operations during a first stage, before launching a second stage which would involve large scale suicide attacks... to liberate Palestine," the PLF leader said.

The PLF is best known for its hijacking in October 1985 of the Italian cruise boat, the Achille Lauro, during which the group killed one of its 400 passengers, an American Jew in a wheelchair, Leon Klinghoffer - BAGHDAD (AFP)
