Palestinian Minister: The Settlers must be Taught the Lesson they Deserve

Palestinian Information Minister Yasser Abd Rabbo has said that "the Jewish] settlers in the West Bank need to be taught the lesson they deserve."

Abed Rabbo made the statement during the course of an interview with Palestinian Radio Thursday night, quoted by The Jerusalem Post.

"They are a gang of thieves and terrorists committing crimes everywhere," he continued.

According to the international law, Israeli settlement activities is illegal. A treport by a US-led panel investigating “violence” in the Palestinian lands said that settlement should be frozen as one step to stop the bloodshed.

Palestinians say that attacks against settlers are legitimate as an act of national struggle against occupation, and self-defense against the intruders’ vandalistic acts in the Occupied Territories.

In response to the minister’s remarks, The Council of Jewish Communities in Judea, Samaria and Gaza described Abd Rabbo as a “despicable murderer,” who is “not worthy of a response,” adding that “it is a shame the government is investing Jewish blood in the framework of ingratiating itself with the murderer [Palestinian President Yasser] Arafat and his ilk." --
