A Jewish teenager and his nine-year-old brother were in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed by a Palestinian man at their home in Jerusalem, police said.
Police launched a manhunt in nearby Palestinian villages to track down the attacker, said to be in his 20s, who fled after the incident.
They said the culprit knocked at the door of the boys' home in the Jewish quarter of Armon Hanatziv in occupied east Jerusalem, asked if their parents were in and then attacked them with a knife.
The 18-year-old was injured in his back while his brother suffered wounds to his shoulder, police said. Both boys, recent immigrants from the former Soviet Union, were taken to a Jerusalem hospital where their condition was described as serious.
"It may be an attack of a Palestinian nationalist nature but we cannot rule out the possibility that it was an attempted break-in," a police statement said – OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (AFP)
