Hundreds of Palestinians demonstrated Tuesday in the Gaza Strip and West Bank in support of their negotiators at the Camp David summit.
In Gaza City, a group of masked Palestinians at the head of a crowd of some 400 people shot automatic rifles and pistols into the air.
"Yes for national unity to face all possibilities!" they yelled, shouting what has become a call for all Palestinian factions to unite in case of clashes with Israel, expected to break out if peace negotiations fail.
"Yes to all of the Palestinian principles, including the return of refugees and Jerusalem," they shouted, waving Palestinian flags.
Near Rafah, in the southern Gaza strip, some 300 Palestinians demonstrated and temporarily blocked the road leading to the Morag Jewish settlement.
In the West Bank town of Ramallah, some 450 women and children marched and called out slogans in support of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat.
"Go! Go! Abu Ammar! We are with you until liberty!" they chanted.
There were no reports of clashes at any of the demonstrations, which were organized by PLO mainstream 'Fateh' faction.
Small demonstrations have been held regularly in the Palestinian territories since the summit began on July 11th.
Arafat and Israeli Prime minister Ehud Barak are scrambling to reach an agreement by Wednesday morning, when US President Bill Clinton is scheduled to leave Camp David for Japan, where he will attend his last G-8 summit - GAZA CITY (AFP)
