China signed an agreement on Tuesday to provide 2.5 million dollars to the Palestinian Authority (PA) for reconstruction projects, according to a Palestinian minister.
"China today signed an agreement to give the Palestinian Authority 2.5 million dollars," Palestinian international cooperation minister Nabil Shaath told journalists in Gaza City after signing the deal with Chinese envoy Wu Jiuhong.
"I am happy to sign this offer of help from our friends in China who have always supported the Palestinian people, Palestinian rights and the Palestinian revolution from the start and have given us this money," Shaath said following the ceremony at the Palestinian ministry of planning and cooperation.
"This money will be used for the repair and rebuilding of houses destroyed by the Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank and Gaza Strip," Shaath said.
In addition, Wu was quoted as telling Xinhua news agency that, "China's political stand towards the Palestinian cause is clear."
"China has been supporting the Palestinians economically and politically since the early 1960s," he added. (Albawaba.com)
