Palestinian preventative security chief in the Gaza Strip Mohammed Dahlan said Wednesday that the killing of four Palestinians in an Israeli army ambush would lead to a "new cycle of violence."
"It will raise the tension and there will be a response from the people. It will take us to a new cycle of violence, it will not be received by applauding the killers," Dahlan told AFP.
The Israeli army said the four were killed in a gunbattle after it set up a roadblock to arrest a Fateh activist wanted for anti-Israeli attacks.
A senior Palestinian security official earlier called the incident "a crime and an assassination" -- GAZA CITY (AFP)
