Participating companies at PALME Asia 2007, the region’s premier professional audio and lighting show were upbeat about current market demand and the growth potential throughout the wider Asian region.
The regional entertainment industry is witnessing robust growth, driven by the bullish Asian economies. Industry analysts at the Singapore event further pinpointed the Indian sub-continent, the Indochina region comprising Vietnam and Thailand and China, which increased its presence at the event this year by over 50 per cent.
PALME Asia Sales Manager Hanslee Azhar said: “Architectural lighting is set to be the next big thing in professional lighting. There is growing demand for this especially for prominent buildings and it is increasingly gaining acceptance as a form of branding for both buildings and for the cities.”
Cities such as Hong Kong and Shanghai are renowned for their instantly recognisable skylines and the rest of Asia is quickly catching on that a prominent skyline, achieved through the use of creative lighting, enhances global visibility.
Prominent figures in the stage lighting industry such as Robe are diversifying into architectural lighting. “Architectural lighting is a challenging field and allows us greater creative freedom to express ourselves and, through real-world applications, provides the best advertisement platform for our products,”
said Robe’s regional distributor, Lighting & Sound.
Some 185 companies from 27 countries participated in PALME Asia. The show will return to Singapore next year as its permanent base.
PALME Asia incorporated Install and Event 360. Install saw international brand names in intelligent building technology such as public address and building management solutions making a strong showing. Event 360, with its event management solutions, attracted current and future nightspot owners to the show.
PALME Asia also brought together industry experts to speak on their respective specialist fields in professional audio and lighting and included speakers such as Dr Wolfgang Ahnert and the sound engineering team responsible for the 2006 Asian Games in Doha.
The PALME brand moves to India, another market with huge potential, from 4-6 October 2007 and PALME Asia 2008 will take place in Singapore on July 10 -12.
