Parents asking their children to buy for them cigarettes is one of several key factors contributing to children themselves smoking, according to a government study.
The Health Ministry study found in a questionnaire for students that the respondents said they were driven to try and smoke by their parents asking to buy cigarettes, according to Bahrain Tribune daily.
The study also found that many students copy the behavior, including smoking, of actors and actresses. They also mistakenly believe that smoking cures headaches. Additionally, the students are at the age where they are trying to express their personalities and refused to be told what to do.
