As part of the cultural shows being showcased this DSF, malls across Dubai are hosting dance performances various countries. The Turkish dance group recently performed at the Arabian Center, a key sponsor of this year’s DSF.
Comprising of sixteen dancers, the Turkish group has been performing around the world for many years now and stages dances from the Anatolia region of Turkey. Anatolia has been home to many civilizations throughout history, such as the Hittites, Phrygians, and Lydians, and Achaemenid, Greek, Armenian, Roman, Byzantine, Anatolian Seljuk and Ottoman states. With a culture spanning many thousands of years, the folk dance by the Turkish group incorporates numerous elements of the rich heritage and history of Turkey.
Consisting of four to five specific dance shows, the performances relate to stories of the Black Sea, harvest, war, and love, and are accompanied by Turkish folk music. Another attraction during the performance is a show by a performer imitating the traditional Turkish wrestling by using two life-size dummies.
Visitors can catch the Turkish dance group at Al Ghurair City, on Feb 2. DSF runs through till Feb 28.
