ALBAWABA- In a move described as “extraordinary” and “unprecedented,” U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has summoned hundreds of top military leaders, including generals, admirals, and senior staff, from across the globe to an emergency meeting at a secure facility in Quantico, Virginia, beginning Friday morning, the Washington Post reported.
The high-level call-up, issued late Wednesday, has left even four-star generals uncertain about the agenda, fueling intense speculation in military and intelligence circles.
“This isn’t a routine briefing or exercise—it’s a full-spectrum call-up with zero advance notice,” one senior officer told the paper on condition of anonymity.
The Pentagon has offered no official explanation, citing “operational security.” However, analysts point to growing global crises as likely triggers, particularly mounting tensions with Iran.
The emergency session follows U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June and a surge in proxy attacks on American forces in Iraq and Syria.
