The Pepsi Sport Fiesta basketball Slam Jam and Powerball football tournaments concluded with a bang as a total of 10 teams emerged victorious across all age categories at the Dubai Global Village.
This year ‘Above All’, took the most glory as Slam Jam champions in the over 20 years category for boys, beating ‘Show Time’; they also won a Chevrolet Spark passenger car courtesy of General Motors in the grand sport fiesta raffle draw. ‘Above All’ team members were Patrik Mboma, Marwan Saleh, Michel Mboma and Fabric Mboma; Michel and Fabric Mboma also took first and second prizes respectively in the Slam Dunk competition.
Other male team Slam Jam winners included ‘Salyers’ in the 11-13 years category, and the ‘Slam Jam Team’ in the 14-15 year old category.
Over the last four weeks, a total of 1176 players have participated in the Pepsi Sport Fiesta tournaments, making up 125 football and 69 basketball teams in total.
The Power Ball football tournament also came to an exciting close with two teams from Egypt squaring off in the 11-12 year old boys category, and there was a magnificent victory for ‘Iranian Team’ who beat ‘Untouchables’ 2-1 in the girls open tournament.

Also, during the course of the tournaments, spectators were entertained by DJ Teddy Jam, break dancers and an ongoing 3-point slam dunk competition on centre court.
Beginning Wednesday February 8, in collaboration with the UAE Schools Federation, the Pepsi Sport Fiesta basketball and football tournaments for intermediate and high schools kick off. So far 54 teams have registered to compete in the schools league, which will run up until March.
The season will open at the Global Village with a football match between seniors of Alshoula Private School and Alhekmah Private School; and a basketball match between seniors of Alshoula Private School and the Technology Institute.
The Pepsi Howzzat School cricket tournament has already kicked off with over 34 teams competing in two age groups: under 18’s and under 15’s. The finals of this tournament will take place mid-February.
Even if they are not registered to take part, youngsters are invited to use the Pepsi Sports Fiesta facilities at the Global Village site free of charge, every day from 5:00 to 11:00pm, until the end of February.
