PepsiCo Jordan Wins Environmental Sustainability Award

PepsiCo Jordan – the winner of the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence/Private Sector – was presented with the Environmental Sustainability Award after winning first place in the 'Performance with Purpose' competition organized by PepsiCo International for the East Mediterranean and Africa region. The award was received on behalf of PepsiCo Jordan by Eng. Iyad Salameh and Supervisor Muhannad Nazal from Mr. Saad Abdul-Latif, CEO of PepsiCo International's Asia, Middle East and Africa Sector.

The East Mediterranean and Africa region was represented in the competition by India, China, Thailand and Jordan. PepsiCo Jordan, which represented the Kingdom in the competition, won the Environmental Sustainability Award as a result of its eco-friendly projects that were implemented under the supervision of Mr. Nidal Hamam, Director of Operations at PepsiCo Jordan. In addition to reducing water wastage by 33%, the projects cut down on the company's energy consumption by 28% between 2008 and 2010.

Commenting on this achievement, Mr. Sufian Salman, East Mediterranean & Africa Business Unit HR Director at PepsiCo, said: "It gives us great honor to receive this award, which highlights our ongoing and keen interest in environmental issues within the Kingdom. This achievement reflects our contributions towards preserving the natural resources and local environment in Jordan for future generations, which corresponds with our policy of aligning our projects and operations with international best practices in environmental sustainability and the utilization of natural resources." Mr. Salman continued to say: "Adopting environmental sustainability measures is every socially responsible organization's duty, as we are all accountable for the preservation and efficient use of our natural resources."
