PepsiCo-Jordan – the winner of the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence/Private Sector – announced its sponsorship of 18-year-old Ahed Eid, the youngest participant in the Jordan International Rally that will be held between the 1st and 3rd of April 2010. The Jordan International Rally is the third round of the World Rally Championship (WRC) after the Swedish and Mexican rallies, and the third round in the FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC).

Most of the rally’s stages will take place in Jordan’s Ghor and Dead Sea regions, and will include a new and important stage in the north of Amman. Ahed Eid will participate in the rally as the youngest new Jordanian participant in the history of the Kingdom’s rally scene as part of the participating women’s teams. Eid, who will be driving a Mitsubishi Evo 8 during the rally, is an 18-year-old Jordanian national and a student at the University of Jordan. Her passion for racing has prompted her to join the Jordan Rally in the hopes of becoming a motorsports champion. Eid began her training in karting events several years ago, and is now training under the guidance of a number of established rally champions.

On this occasion, Mr. Isam Saleh, PepsiCo-Jordan’s Marketing Manager, stated: “Our sponsorship of Ahed Eid comes within our participation in a series of initiatives that PepsiCo-Jordan organizes to maintain its ongoing involvement in activities that interest the youth segment, and as part of the different programs that support sportsmanship in Jordan. We are very proud to be sponsoring Ahed Eid, who has an exceptional talent for motorsports and is blessed with qualities that will help her achieve a commendable victory that will add to our promising Jordanian youth’s sports achievements.”

In turn, Ahed Eid expressed her appreciation of and gratitude for PepsiCo-Jordan’s support and sponsorship in the Jordan Rally, confirming her dedication and commitment towards honorably representing Jordan alongside the biggest rally champions.
