The first woman to head Egypt’s television station, Tumader Tawfiq, died Friday at the age of 80.
Tawfiq was also the first female radio announcer, the first female employee at the television station upon its foundation in 1960, and the station’s first director.
Educated in English, as well as radio and TV production, Tawfiq became the director of cultural programs at the station before she was appointed as president and then a consultant, according to Al Ahram Arabic daily – Albawaba.com
