ALBAWABA- 18 bodies were recovered after a small plane caught fire and crashed this morning at Kathmandu Airport in Nepal, according to Reuters.
Police spokesperson Dan Bahadur Karki told Agence France-Presse that "The pilot was rescued and is receiving treatment."
According to the Kathmandu Post, the plane crashed during takeoff from Kathmandu with 19 people on board. The plane, belonging to Saurya Airlines, crashed around 11:00 AM (05:15 GMT).
The news website Khabarhub reported that the plane caught fire, resulting in "thick columns of smoke rising from it."
The flight was en route to Pokhara, a major tourist destination in the Himalayan nation.
Saurya Airlines' website indicates that they exclusively operate Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft.
