Pope John Paul II on Sunday expressed his "profound pain" over the accident in which a funicular train caught fire in a tunnel in the Austrian Alps, leaving some 150 people dead.
In a message to the Bishop of Salzburg, Georg Eder, the pope expressed his "solidarity and closeness through prayers" to relatives of the victims, according to a Vatican statement -- VATICAN CITY (AFP)
