Eritrean President Issaias Afeworki is due to travel to Egypt on Tuesday for talks with his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak regarding the crises in Sudan and Somalia, Egyptian officials said.
The talks between Mubarak and Issaias are to center on "the general situation in Africa and in the Horn of Africa, especially the Sudanese and Somali files, " a spokesman for the Egyptian foreign ministry said, cited by AFP.
Eritrea is part of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development, an East African regional grouping which is sponsoring peace negotiations in Sudan and Somalia.
Relations between Sudan and Eritrea have cooled since Khartoum accused Asmara of sending troops into eastern Sudan to back a rebel offensive last month - a charge Asmara denies.
Both leaders, in addition, will review the situation in the Middle East region, Egyptian officials said. (Albawaba.com)
