Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh condemned Tuesday the outcome of the Arab summit, saying it was too weak, the official SABA news agency reported.
"We wanted the summit resolutions to be stronger and for them to express more clearly the aspirations of the Arab masses," Saleh said upon his return from the summit which ended in Cairo on Sunday.
"However these resolutions represent the minimum required under current Arab circumstances," he said, welcoming the decision to hold a summit every year, which Yemen had proposed.
This was "an important step on the path to strengthening Arab solidarity," he said.
The Yemeni leader had also called for an international force to be set up to protect the Palestinians from Israeli forces and urged the dispatch of military and financial aid.
The summit did agree to set up a one-billion-dollar fund to aid the Palestinians and protect the Arab character of Jerusalem – SANAA (AFP)
