Three members of the Algerian security forces and an Islamist rebel were killed earlier this week after rebels attacked a police post in the north of the country, press reports said Saturday.
The incident happened in the early hours of Friday, when armed rebels attacked the post in the Lakhdaria region, 70 kilometers (50 miles) southeast of Algiers, according to the reports.
A civil guard was killed in the attack, and two soldiers and a rebel were killed when police reinforcements arrived.
